This year's Inver Grove Heights Days Parade is on September 10 at 11 AM. It runs along Cahill between 65th and 80th.
Rep. Joe Atkins (D-39B) and Mayor George Tourville are again organizing the food drive, with help from Joe's son, Tom. Tom, now 17, serves as chair of the food drive, helping to organize it and get volunteers.
The effort seeks donations of food, household and school supplies, to help those in need in our area. Joe says the local food shelf that serves people in Inver Grove Heights, South Saint Paul and West Saint Paul are really short on food resources right now.In addition Joe Atkins will be participating in the other IGH days events form September 8 - 11, 2011: IGH Days schedule of events (pdf). Joe is organizing or helping with the following activities:
Bike the Bridges Ride. Saturday, 4 PM, meet at Jersey's on Concord. This free, family-friendly, flat, 5.9-mile ride will go from Jersey's to the recently-renovated Rock Island Swing Bridge, then north on the bike trail to the Wakota Bridge, before returning via the same trail back to Jersey's.
Home Run Derby. Sunday, 11 AM - 4 PM, near Bremer Bank on Cahill. Come hit home runs off Joe in the Twins inflatable Target Field.
IGH Animal Hospital Pet Contest. Sunday, noon, Village Square
